Report an absence

If your student will not be attending school or will be arriving more than 20 minutes late, please call the 24-hour Attendance Line: 952-848-4102 with the following information: 

  • Student's name
  • Student's grade
  • Student's teacher
  • Date of absence
  • Reason for absence
  • Your name and relationship to the student

You must call the attendance line even if you have already notified your child's teacher. 

For planned absences:

For upcoming planned absences (travel, non-school events, personal matters), please fill out the Planned Absence Form at least 5 days in advance of the absence to be counted as excused. (En Español) Illness, medical, religious and funeral absences do not require the Planned Absence Form.

You can also report their absence online via Infinite Campus. Please note, as with the form, the absence must be reported at least 5 days in advance to be excused.

Arrival and Departure

Students being dropped off at school should not arrive prior to 8:25am.  If you need care for your child earlier than 8:25am., please make arrangements with Kids Club/Wise Guys, a neighbor or family member.  If your student walks or rides their bike, please work with them to plan for an arrival time between 8:25am. and 8:35am. The office staff appreciates your help as they are busy getting ready for the school day in the mornings and can't provide supervision for children.  

Students will be able to enter Door 10 by the office beginning at 8:20am. Students are expected to be in their classroom when the bell rings at 8:40am.

At the end of the day, students are dismissed by their classroom teacher. Parent drop-off and pick-up is at Door 10, by the Normandale office. Please see our Traffic Plan.

All unsupervised students must leave the building by 3:55pm. For children who need before or after school supervision, please enroll in Kids Club or Wise Guys.

 

 

Change in Dismissal Plans

If you have a change in dismissal plans, please send a note with your student in the morning.  If you have an emergency or sudden change, please contact the office at 952-848-4100 and they will notify your student's teacher.  Do not email the teacher as they may have a substitute or not have the ability to check their email during the school day.
